Garo has received continuous power-ups since his debut in One-Punch Man, and Chapter 154 proves he has once again reached a greater height.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for One-Punch Man Chapter 154, "Divine Punishment," by One, Yusuke Murata, John Werry and James Gaubatz available in English at Viz Media and Manga Plus.
As one of One-Punch Man's greatest villains, Garo has constantly been accruing more power, and the results are evident in Chapter 154 of the manga. The Hero Hunter has received multiple power-ups during his consecutive fights against heroes and monsters alike. He's advancing at such a fast rate that it makes fans wonder if he will one day be strong enough to surpass the overwhelming figure that is Bald Cape. In Chapter 154, Garo reminds readers how ferocious he has become.
Flashy Flash, Garo and Platinum Spermatozoon have been locked in a three-way fight. They were about equal in speed for a good while, but the S-Class hero's swiftness proved to be lacking compared to the other two. The moment he realized his inferiority, Flashy Flash had a desperate outburst of power and unleashed multiple techniques, only to be parried and blocked by the two monsters. Platinum Spermatozoon found an opening after Garo's parry, knocking the hero out of the competition.
Despite only two monsters being left, the fight was far from over; Garo didn't give the Monster Association executive any room to breathe and engaged him in a faster fight. The two traded blows even faster than when there were three, resulting in a dense cluster of lights. While the two seemed equal, the Hero Hunter quickly gained an edge over his opponent and finished the match with a sassy quick move. Ultimately, Platinum Spermatozoon exploded into what seemed to be snowflakes of light.
Platinum Spermatozoon was undeniably one of the strongest and fastest opponents Garo has faced in One-Punch Man, but he wasn't the first Monster Association executive to fall under Garo's fist. He'd also eliminated numerous monsters prior to this event and soon made quick work of Barf President Ugly. But what makes Garo's fight against Platinum Spermatozoon noteworthy is that it's full-fledged proof of how powerful he has become.
Overpowering both Flashy Flash and Platinum Spermatozoon without suffering much damage proves that Garo stands above most heroes and monsters, not just in terms of power but speed as well. It is no exaggeration to put him on the same level as Terrible Tornado, and it remains unknown whether he has even reached his peak.
Garo's recent exploit cements his status as one of the most formidable villains in One-Punch Man. Even though this accomplishment only proves how terrifying he is without showing the limits of his abilities, fans may get a glimpse of it soon as the Hero Hunter faces Centisennin, another giant centipede monster.
